helpful, but rarely used

I don't remember when or how I got this pad for a shoulder strap. It may have come with a duffle bag I bought, or someone in my reserve unit may have given it to me. It really doesn't matter. I probably used it a few times, though it's in too good shape to have been used very often. It would have come in very handy during a month of reserve duty, softening the weight of the rifle on my shoulder. But if this sounds like such a good idea, why would it have found such little use? Though I don't really remember, my guess is that the pad continually got caught up in the shoulder straps of the battle belt I wore, making it more trouble than it was worth.
