full circle

Many years ago, probably something like twenty, a neighbor moved away to a different country. It was for her, as should be expected, a time for cleaning out drawers and getting rid of excess baggage, and I was offered this empty notebook of graph paper. Frankly, it was a very nice notebook, and I accepted it happily, even though I suppose that I knew quite well that I probably would never use it. It's simply not my style.

We're presently in the process of remodeling and that means cleaning out lots of objects which I have no intention of using. During the cleaning out process, I once again found this notebook, and I had to question whether there was any reason to continue to hold on to it. As luck would have it, the woman who gave it to me years ago is presenting visiting her parents in our community. Instead of putting it in the trash, I was able to present it to her just as she had given it to me instead of throwing it out. She promises me that this time she'll use it.
