some more personal information

Though I swore that I'd never return to an academic setting (after completing my BA in keeping out of Vietnam back in 1972) I've discovered that working on a masters in computer aided curriculum development is an exciting and involving adventure.

In the interim I primarily taught elementary school on my kibbutz for about 15 years. The kibbutz back then offered an inclusive educational experience through which chidren learned about their world in a hands-on environment. Things have changed since then and parents seem much more concerned that their kids get the "proper" training for their future careers than that they build a significant educational foundation through positive learning experiences.

Somewhat to my surprise, at present very little information on the kibbutz movment is available on the web. I'm a member of Kibbutz Hatzor, located near Ashdod. We don't have our own web page (and at present I don't think that we need one) but some information on kibbutz is starting to become available. I'm try and keep this connection updated to the latest kibbutz related material.

At present, in addition to my studies I'm occupied most of the time with my two young sons, Eitan (4) and Nadav (2) [That's Nadav in the picture -- the one without the mustache]. They usually keep me from doing much work in the evening. Instead I read them stories and sit with them until they fall asleep at night. All too often I doze off myself and wake up to discover that they're slumbering away and that I've missed the better part of my evening. Still, it's wonderful being the father of two incredible young sons, and it keeps me on my feet. (That picture of Nadav raises some interesting questions about sibling-rivalry, seeing as how when Eitan sees a picture of his brother projected to whomever in the world is looking, he's most definitely sure to ask "where's my picture?".)

I'm married to Tzippi who is a professional horn player. (February 27, 1997. I've just found a photograph of Tzippi on the web!) I doubt that anyone would really like to learn much about horn playing, but there's some material available on the net... click here. We have an ongoing argument about whether or not the boys will go to school. Having been an elementary school teacher I can attest to the fact that people don't learn anything there, but Tzippi thinks that it's an important socialization process, and unavoidable (and the law as well). I'm fascinated by the possibilities of home-learning via the internet. For more information, click here.

Hey! Now that I think of it, all this rambling gives me my very own home page! So now I've joined the ranks of the thousands who just might have something to say, but not having it isn't going to stop them from saying it.

But if I've come this far, I might as well go a bit further. My interests are varied and extensive, and I pride myself (probably foolishly) for finding something interesting in just about every subject. I'm always coming across articles that I want to put into someone's hands and say "read this". So I'll try and use this page to do just that: present whoever finds their way here with interesting material for contributing to an admittedly eclectic worldview. I'll try and add something new every two weeks and hope I can keep this up. If it turns out to be useful information, then maybe I'll finally be able to turn over my wolf badge. If you think your interests might just be along similar veins, click here.

Since this page was first prepared my web presence has grown and diversified. This isn't the place to list everything, but mention should at least be made of:
