always a good
idea
Actually, I learned Hebrew quite quickly - though perhaps I write
that in retrospect. Back then, over thirty years ago, it was clear
to me that if I was going to master the language, and integrate
into Israeli society, it was going to be a slow process. Thus this
3X5 card [it reads: Patience], which was taped to a wall
in my first rooms in Israel. Back then it served as a constant reminder
that I was in for a long haul, and thus it was best to take a deep
breath.
This card, like many other items, was rediscovered as I packed and
moved, and even threw things away, in preparation for, and during,
our remodeling. Little
did I know that it would be as accurate a reminder of the deep breath
needed for our building as it was for its original purpose.
