almost moonlighting

I'm almost always game for a new teaching experience. Teaching basic internet skills to teachers is (or used to be) a fairly lucrative source of additional income, but it can become boring. When I'm approached to develop something a bit more challenging, I find it hard to refuse. On the whole, however, the promise turns out to be greater than the prize. In one particular case, for instance, I was promised a group of internet literates who wanted to examine aspects of what might be called the sociology of internet use. I loved preparing for that course. It definitely held promise. But when most of the participants had to be taught to save bookmarks, it became clear that my preparations were well over their heads. Both the class, and the additional income, were cancelled.
